How long should an ice machine last?

Today's machines are much more reliable than in years past. A newmachine can last as long as 10 years, depending on water quality, frequency of use and environmental conditions. Humidity, dust and salt air can severely shorten the lifespan of an ice maker. Ideal operating conditions are an air conditioned interior room or hallway.
